I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

I never thought I'd see the day when we would have a white Christmas in Melbourne. I mean seriously! It's December, it's Summer, temperature is supposed to be in the 30s by now. But no, it was cold, it was 14 degrees, it hailed, it rained, it snowed!

Who would ever have thought that it would SNOW in Melbourne on a Christmas Day?!
Ah, the wonders of the crazy Melbourne weather... 37 degrees one day, 27 degrees at night, but 14 degrees and wet the very next day. Crazy....

And then......

Ahhh... the day after Christmas.....

we basically took it easy today. Thought about doing the Boxing Day sales BUT better judgement told us that it was probably a good idea not to brave the crowds today. People get hit and stuff just to get a bargain, and no bargain is worth my pretty little face getting hit ;)

So, I pretty much spent the day at home, tidied up my room - again - why does it always become such a mess every time Chris stays over?!

Gave Taxi a bath and she smells all sweet and nice again.

That's pretty much it - very exciting day I've had but that's just the way I like it.

Should I list my Chrismas presents? :) :) Let's just say I have been a good girl this year, Santa was very forthcoming :)

21 more days and counting.......

The new look

As you can obviously see, I've decided on a new look for this blog. Reason? Well, judging from the direction that it has taken, it's not exactly Chris and Mae's blog anymore.... it's more my blog and sometimes I tell you about what's happening with Chris... so from this new direction comes a new look.

And, I was kind of getting tired of that old look anyway...

Righto, so new direction... where do I go with this new direction??? Really don't know yet but where ever takes my fancy I guess. Probably more of the same really, the usual stuff... me rambling on about really important world issues such as when I decide to clean my room, or when I decide to give Taxi a bath, or yet another shoe purchase that I do not need :p

I'm officially on holidays now. Christmas party at work was dull - as I had expected it to be, but fortunately it was at the Uni so I was able to make a speedy and quiet escape the moment all the formalities and food were over. I really didn't feel like sticking around on a 37 degree day wasting my precious time not drinking the free booze they were offering (Mae's not really much of a drinker you see) and making small talk with people that I don't really know and who probably wouldn't know me from a bar of soap if I ever bumped into them outside of work. Yup, I could think of better things to do with my time.

So, 2 more days til Christmas, what have I been upto? Pretty much all the Christmas shopping is complete. I need to wrap them up, write out the cards... Chris and I went over to his Grandparents house for early Christmas lunch with them today because they are moving upto NSW to be closer to Chris' dad... pleasant enough afternoon...

Then, Christmas day we'll be having Christmas lunch feast at Chris' and I don't expect to eat another meal for at least week afterwards. I do, however, expect to be nursing a very round belly for at least a month after Christmas.... and then I'll be off on my SUPER EUROPEAN SAMPLER TRIP! Hopefully after that I'll get my arse down to do some exercise and lose some of this flab that I've put on in the month of December alone.

Why is it so darn easy to put on weight yet so goddam difficult to lose the weight we take only days to put on?

Anyways, I've made a promise to myself. An early New Year resolution if you may. I will be healthier. I will be more active. I will eat better. I will lead a healthier lifestyle. I want to look super amazingly fit for my next birthday! :)

Oh shoot... now that I've made it public, I guess I will have to do something about it... hmmm... no more excuses.

I guess I have some time to think about how I want to go about that.... yoga perhaps? Pilates?? Jogging? Dancing?? :)

Merry and safe Christmas to all my dear friends!

3.5 hour lunch break

Well.... there's less than 10 days til Christmas and I think we have roughly half the presents that we need to buy... not too bad I guess. Chris and I (well, mainly me) already know what we want to get people it's just a matter of getting it.

Yesterday, for a change I was barely in my office for much of the day. It was a nice change. Although, do not be mistaken - that's not to say I was busy with work... however, it was because of work that I was called away from sitting on my arse all day in my comfy little office.

My colleague Marisa wanted company while she went to the city to pick up some printing so I tagged along on the premise that I was to help her carry back the printing... she really didn't need my help. It was just one tiny little parcel afterall :) But it was nice to get out of the office, and we took that opportunity to visit the Vic Market to get some churros - hehe - I'm so glad she persuaded me to get 2 and not 1 because I would not have been satisfied with just one yummy churros :)

When I returned to my office, it was time to go out to lunch with my boss and the rest of his department. It was kind of a farewell to him and a departmental Christmas lunch all in one. And let me tell you, this is one of the finest lunches I've ever had! This will go down in history let me tell you.

He took us to a really posh restaurant in Carlton. I can't imagine paying prices like this for dinner, let alone for lunch! Well, not unless it was a special occasion *hint hint Christopher!* We had expensive French champagne, and really nice wine. We all had beautiful food, oh the glorious food! It was just beautiful. I was so stuffed, so full of good food that I didn't think I could move back to the office but guess what? Paying for lunch at such a posh restaurant was not enough for my boss, no no no, he coerced me to have dessert as well! *sigh* I know what you're all thinking - how horrible of him to order for me a dessert described as "dark callebaut chocolate souffle with hazelnut." A dessert which cost $18.50. Perhaps one of the priciest desserts I've ever eaten. How terrible of him to force me to eat such a heavenly treat!!

:)

I enjoyed it. I really did. I couldn't possibly have finished it though because I was so full and the souffle was so rich so it was nice to have been able to share it. It was shared between a co-worker, my boss and me. So it took 3 of us to finish it. Just.

Next time I ain't sharing this divine creation. Next time, I will just be having sweets alone at Masani's. Trust me, It is worth it.

3.5 hours later, I finally made my escape back to the office, and I was one of the earlier ones to leave! (It's kind of hard to make an excuse to leave early when your boss is there with you and he knows how much work you don't have to do back in the office)

I can't believe I had been out of the office from 12pm til 4:30pm. I would call that a good day. I was severely overfed and truly believe that in one day alone, all my good work exercising has gone to waste. I swear my pants feel somewhat tighter today because of my excess consumption yesterday. It's really difficult to love a job like this :)

On a different note, Chris and I went Christmas shopping today and guess what I did? Yup, bought meself another pair of shoes :0 Like I mentioned in my earlier post, it was 30% off!! I can't pass that over, I mean seriously, it's the world's MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES! I love these shoes!! I'm a happy chicky-babe today. But then again, my credit card has taken a hammering, quite a severe hammering. I need to pay it off before I can book any more accommodation and flights for my European Sampler Holiday.

FOUR WEEKS to go.... I'm so excited!! Be excited for me! I give you permission to be excited for me!

Ciao, au revoir and adios!

Bored and hot

Well, it's been a rather dull few weeks... I think it's been about 2 weeks since my last post and really, there's not much to write about.

The weather has been really really hot, and most people that knows me knows that:
me+hot weather = not very pleasant me to be around.

And then after the hot weather we go back to quite cold again, you know, going from 37 degrees to 10 degrees is two different extremes and sometimes it happens ALL ON THE SAME BLOODY DAY! I've lived here all my life but I don't think I'll really ever get used to Melbourne weather....

The weather last weekend was absolutely disgusting, 37 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday. I didn't do anything on Sunday, absolutely NOTHING. I woke up, laid down on the couch and pretty much stayed there the entire day. I didn't change out of my pj's, I barely moved and I was right underneath the air-con!

I hate hot weather, how the hell am I gonna make it through Thailand?! That should be interesting :)

It's been a rather long week.... almost like it is never gonna end, I think it's cos I only have one more week to go until the Christmas break - and finally I can actually do nothing and not feel guilty about it. Right now I do a lot of nothing and feel incredibly guilty about it. Damn these stupid work ethics I have! :p

And since it is Summer, all the good shows have finished and all the Summer programs have started, which means there's nothing good on tv for me to watch, which also means I really have jack-all to do each night. The only thing I look forward to each week is the Amazing Race (not as good as any of the past series but still good viewing) and each night, is a really weak That 70s Show - either my sense of humour has grown up or it just ain't as funny as it used to be... having a grown up sense of humour, hmm.... that's pretty scary! NO NO NO! I don't want this, I want my old stupid childish sense of humour back. Come back quick! I want to enjoy That 70s Show.

Anyways, I still have a stack of Christmas shopping to do, and it's less than 2 weeks til Christmas :( I went shopping with one of my office bearers yesterday. Ed, God bless him - such a sweetie, he
offered to go shopping with me yesterday because I mentioned I didn't enjoy shopping by myself. How cute is that? I didn't actually end up buying anything.... except something for myself :p hehe oh yeah, I probably haven't mentioned that I've already maxed out my credit card and it's only mid-December!

Don't worry, it's mainly bills and holiday expenses, things that needed to be paid and just so happens to converge around the same time - but the Christmas shopping wouldn't help my poor little credit card...

Thankfully I got paid today, and got the holiday pay - and I'll be getting a pay rise in the new year... overall, I do think I have a pretty darn good job - just wish it was a tad more exciting and mentally challenging. Oh well, can't have everything.

Tomorrow it's FRIDAY! YAY. I saw a sign that made my heart leap, 30% off all shoes! OMG, I am SO going there to get the world's most comfortable shoes, I know I shouldn't buy more stuff for myself but I have been dying to buy these shoes and I just can't bring myself to pay full price for them. So tomorrow, I will be paying 30% less :) :) :)

Alrighty, I'm bringing my attention back to the Amazing Race now. Blog you later.

Deal or No Deal?

Well.... we won no money :(

We didn't even make it onto the podium :(

That's the kind of luck we have.... we are doomed to earn money the long hard way - actually working for it! :(

So, unfortunately we came home empty handed... actually, no, that's not right. Chris did buy a t-shirt - so we did come out of it a whole $10 lighter! :(

On the other hand, we met a very nice Andrew O'Keefe. And Chris and I looked amazingly hot - as if we could look any other way :) Well... I looked amazingly hot, while Chris looked amazingly hot and overweight :p hehe

Yeah, that's about it... since we didn't get to go onto the podium, there's not really a lot to write about so that's about it for now....

Oh sorry, there is more... yesterday, my boss tendered his resignation! Now THAT was unexpected. Don't ask me what I do to them. In the past 5 years, I don't think I've had a single supervisor last more than 18 months. I'm a good worker! I'm nice! I work hard! Hmm... perhaps that's the reason? I'm too good at what I do, I do it so well that my boss no longer needs to be around?? hehehe, always look on the positive side of life.

Anyways, he'll be around until the end of the year then the start of next year is going to be an interesting start. No boss, future new boss, VSU - it's all gonna be fun and games I'm telling y'all. I'll be back at work for a week after the new year and then off I fly to my European Super Adventure for 5 weeks. So I really don't know what to expect.... hopefully they do not put me in under the supervision of this nasty senior manager - however, knowing my luck, that's exactly who I will be reporting to :( If that's the case, I will be the next person leaving this organisation.

Next issue, Christmas present shopping :( Oh dear, more dramas....

Week of spending

Money money money, that's what it seems like I'm being made of this week!

I've finally found myself a pair of specs that I'm happy with, it's only taken more than a few years :) BUT it did cost a bomb :( Hopefully it will look like it was worth it when I get it tomorrow....

And then, I've had to pay for my airfares this week.... that's $2000... and my rego is due.... plus a few more bits and bills (includes buying Chris a new tyre of course), all up I'm about $4000 out of pocket these past 4 weeks... didn't help that I've also been lazy and haven't been bringing lunch, so have had to buy my lunches... and occasionally, also breakkie :p hehe Woah, must stop spending money before holiday! *sigh* very hard to do coming up to Christmas. Lots of Chrissy presents to buy... hopefully lots of Chrissy presents to receive in return (hehe, I've been a good girl this year!)

That's about all that's really happened, but then I figured, since I've really got not much to post this week, I'll show you one of my favourite artpieces at the moment.

It's called "Blutack Surfing Dude" (Artist: Anonymous - in case he doesn't want to be named) and it's on show right now on my office window so if you have time, do drop by for a visit. the Blutack art series does change regularly..... but this one is my favourite at the moment.

So anyways, apologies for boring post today, there's not much happening at the moment, weather's nice, everything is quiet. Boring old Melbourne.

I had a bad day

This is me again. I think I should've written something about Chris and the supposedly amazing U2 concert on Sunday...... but, considering everybody and their dog has been talking non-stop about U2, Bono, Make Poverty History concert, U2 concert, how great Bono is, the so-damn-good -it's-unbelievable 'U-Jam' Keep on Rocking in the free world collaboration..... yeah, I think they don't need me to give them any more publicity. That and the fact that I wasn't actually there makes it difficult to write about....

So what can I write about? Well.... my bad day at work is a start, I was actually there! :) I don't know who would actually care about my bad day at work, even when I was telling Chris about it tonight he wasn't paying attention to me.

Anyways, it's my blog and I blog what I want to, so here goes....

It started off with getting stuck in traffic on Flinders St, which, considering the traffic the last few days, wasn't so bad today but still it made me late for work. Then, I head on to Elizabeth St, get on the tram and wait and wait and wait.... and the tram doesn't move. Why? I hear you ask.... Well, something about the tram's batteries.... yeah, it f**cked up or something. Great, I'm already late and this has to bloody happen to me. So off the tram I get, head upto to Swanston St to catch one of the other many trams that head to the University, and we get stuck behind a parallel parking BUS! Then, there are some fire trucks we had to give way to, so that's more lateness.

By the time I get to work it was nearly 9:30am. Not that anybody noticed.

And my office was SO DAMN HOT! Being 36 degrees yesterday and heating up to 36 again today didn't help things. My office is freezing cold in Winter and like an oven in Summer. Today, it was like an oven, even with the air-con on, my office is stuffy and hot. Very uncomfortable.

I think at one stage, I was on the verge of falling asleep (or dying... it's a fine line on a 36 degree day) but when I started to feel faint, I thought to myself, this is no good, I gotta get some fresh air. That's when Alex walks in to save my day, made me sit down in the lovely air-conditioned bit of the lounge. I felt a whole stack better by then, but I still felt like shit and was exhausted and felt a slight tinge of headache... I hate the heat, I don't take to heat very well. It makes me feel unwell.

Anyways, Alex convinced me to see this weird 'anti-psychiatry' thingy that's on in the building (it was like an exhibition, with posters and tv programs in a room)... apparently it's some sort of Scientology thing, perhaps they were recruiting? Whatever it was, it was weird, depressing, and they pretty much relate everything bad that happens to humans to the effects of psychiatry and using drugs they prescribe you. Hmm.... well, I don't know about that, I agree that medication is not always the answer, but I don't agree that it is the cause of all our pain in society - which is what I think they were trying to tell me. I saw a lobotomy being performed, and 'doctors' saying it didn't hurt the patient (yeah right!) and people poking humungous things into other people's eyes to heal them. Man, it was sick, it was all I could do not to scream out loud in that room. Seeing a lobotomoy performed didn't help me feel any better, my skin was getting all clammy and I really didn't feel well.

The people holding this 'anti-psychiatry' thingy were weird. They watch you watching the things, and since the things did not interest me, I moved on really quickly and they made me feel kind of guilty for not paying attention. And then, just when Alex and I were about to leave (cos it was home time ya know), this guy was about to block our path, perhaps to convince us to join their cult? Ooops, did I say cult? :) Well, smart thinking Alex, used his uniform to get us out quickly and safely without interruption. I hadn't seen such a big load of shite in a long time.

Lobotomy, not good. Perhaps these people had lobotomies? I know... I'm not really making much sense, but it's late you see, and I'm not well, so it's hard to make myself make sense at this time of night.

Bad day continues on my way home.... the following is the short version. Bus arrives late. Due to bad weather and feelings of unwellness, decided not to wait for the express (which probably arrived 2 mins later). Hot bus. Bad traffic on Flinders St. Packed out bus (probably cos it was late). Bus breaks down at awkward intersection in Port Melbourne. Engine revs but there is no movement. Red light. Moves about 1cm. Stops at red light. Bus refuses to move at green light. 15mins later, moves 1cm. Red light. Stops again. Green light, refuses to move. Repeat about 5 times. Big sigh by all on the bus. Lots of cars behind honking bus. Another bus behind us. Move to new bus, lose favourite seat. Get a seat next to 'biggish' woman. Don't care, got a seat, better than standing. Bad traffic on Williamstown Rd. Big sigh by me. Why is this happening to me on such a bad day!!!!??????!!!!

Finally get home at 7pm. Starving. Only leftovers to eat cos dad doesn't realise he no longer needs to cater to 20 people on a daily basis, it's usually just me, mum and Kent... mostly just me and mum eating at home. And we eat not much at all. Leftovers, hmm.... better than hunger I guess.

I'm feeling exhausted. Until my next episode....

12 little birds and counting....

This post starts off with what my gorgeous little dog has been doing this week. Obviously quite alone for most of the day while we're all at work, our beautiful dog has decided that playing with the little birdies who steal her food will be quite fun and entertaining. Uh-huh, yup, fun indeed Taxi dear, of course playing with birdies is fun - but ONLY IF YOU DON'T KILL THEM!

Taxi has been KILLING birds!!!! we've counted 12 so far in the last 3 days..... but there could be more out in the yard somewhere. How horrible. I can't believe my sweet little dog is now a seasoned killing machine :(

I don't like it when she licks me anymore.... I keep imagining blood in her mouth. Yuck. And all the bad karma that comes with it.

Oh, what else has happened.... umm... Chris' lame-arsed entry a few days ago. So now you can all see why I'm the only one putting anything down.... "here chris i your blog" - I know what you're all thinking - What the f**k?? :) Don't worry, it's normal, that exact thought goes through my mind every time Chris sends me an sms.... it takes awhile to try to decipher what he's trying to tell me.

Otherwise, it's been a pretty dull week.... oh, today I ran an errand for Alex at work, a favour to a friend you can say and guess what he did?! He gave me $20 for it! Seriously, I was kind of offended that he thinks he needs to give me money. And his bloody macho pride wouldn't let me take no for an answer. And my 'can't be bothered arguing with you' nature just took the money. But I'm not gonna let him forget it. I'm gonna be annnoying and keep reminding him that had to pay me to do him a favour. Day after day, until he takes the money back.

That leads me to wonder.... Even if he thinks he needs to pay me, am I only worth $20? Am I really that cheap?? On the other hand, if I was to ask for money, he couldn't afford me anyway ;)

Stupid male pride.

Onto something else, not much happening this weekend, Chris and Sue will going to U2's concert on Sunday, so our weekend together will be shortened...... it's kind of good and bad I guess. I don't know how much more nagging I can give to try to get him to stop eating junk food - no wait - trying to stop him eating when he is full - no wait - stop him eating *FULL STOP* - he's becoming so fatty-boomba lately. I'm not too sure how much more nagging he can take from me, and perhaps that's what is driving him to eat all the time..... me.... I'm the cause of his eating disorder.

Tonight, he's looking like he is almost 7 months pregnant, and yet STILL nursing a beer in he's hand while watching tv. Soooo Al Bundy. Bloody lazy, unhealthy bugger.

OH OH OH, very exciting news! Chris and I have both been selected to appear on Deal or No Deal! Woo hoo hoo, it's SO timely, I could do with a few "g's" in my account to help the holiday fund along :) I want to kiss Backpacker Hotels good bye! :) And it's happened much faster than I had expected. It was only in September that we auditioned, and we're going on 30th November. Wish us luck. Chris will need it more than me, but I will take all the luck wished upon me, and even willing to steal Chris' share of luck if it means I have more chance of winning cos I really need some fast easy cash :)

Wish us luck, lots of it, plenty of it, We will need it.

Something I forgot to mention

There is something I forgot to mention in yesterday's entry. I was going over my amazing story of the flat tyre incident with my colleague Marisa, for the umpteenth time that day (oh yeah, I'm milking it for all its worth!) when I happened to mention that I was stuck in Glen Iris.... and guess what?

Yup! Not only does Marisa live in Glen Iris but I was stuck on the exact street that she happens to live on! Coincidence or what?! I was actually not far from her place at all... I can't believe how close it was. It's a little bit freaky don't you think?

Wednesday

People say that Wednesday is hump day. No no, don't get the wrong idea, it's nothing dirty... hump day, as in it's the day of the week that you get the most amount of work done. Yup.... I got the most amount of work done today, all of 10 mins! Hmm.... I get paid too much to just sit here. I watched this dreadful movie called Clockwatchers. That almost really could've been written about me. I feel so bad, so guilty, so useless. I need a new job.

Oh, there's nothing in particular I wanted to write about, just wanted to practice typing really....
Today we received 2 postcards from my sister who is in France right now. Beautiful postcards. She had done a bit of travelling around France during mid-semester break, sounds like she had a great time. The reason why I'm telling this story is because my mum, being the mother of a doofus, is herself a doofus, didn't realise that the postcards were for us. She saw the name 'Taxi & Family' and consequently just assumed it was delivered to the wrong address cos we don't have anyone called 'Taxi & Family' living here. Dad had to explain to her that Lulu had actually addressed her postcards to the dog before the family..... *sigh* we are such a doofus family.

Well... I think tomorrow I will be surfing the net looking like I'm hard at work. A girl at work asked me how old I am..... I really wanted to tell her, truly I did! But my mouth just wouldn't work - everytime I try to say it, I just start gagging.... the best I can do is to tell people I am now 20-something. Goodness knows what I will do when I will one day no longer be 20-something :( What will I say then? Should I just keep quiet?? I am ageless? :)

A thought for the future. Right now, I live for the moment.

Comedy of Errors

Well what a Saturday it was last night! And here I thought it was just gonna be another one of the usual...

It started off the same as always, Chris and I went to Knox City for a little shopping...
I was wearing my 'stop-traffic' boots and a skirt that has now become a little too big even though mum had altered it once already (yay! I AM losing weight!), so I was looking damn hot (hehehe, ego? who, me??). I was telling Chris about these 'stop-traffic' boots, and how they are so magical, they actually can stop traffic, because it happened when I dressed like this for work. I had cars stop at EVERY intersection waiting for me to strut across the road. And yes, I did strut cos that's what you do in 'stop-traffic' boots. Strut. (I like that word, so I'm gonna say it one more time because I can, I strut across the road). He just laughed at me. I was wondering what was so funny to him, was it because I called them 'stop-traffic' boots? Or the fact that traffic actually stopped for my boots? Or worse, that he didn't believe in the magic of these 'stop-traffic' boots? Well, after this conversation we were just about the cross the road behind this girl and a car was speeding towards us, not looking like it was gonna stop for her, but you know what? The moment the driver saw my 'stop-traffic' boots, it stopped! Almost mowing down the girl in front of me, but leaving a good distance for me and Chris to cross safely to the other side of the street. Well, ok - I strutted across the road, while Chris walked :) See! I love my 'stop-traffic' boots. Why didn't I ever figure this out before? I would've worn a lot more skirts and boots :)

Anyways, we went back to Chris' for dinner as I hadn't seen his mum and aunty for quite some time and then after dinner Chris didn't feel well so he went to bed while I stayed up watching tv with Sue and Margaret, then it got late and Sue and Margaret went to bed as well so here I was, up late watching tv on my own at Chris' place while everyone was asleep - I did feel a little awkward, but what the hell.... I wasn't gonna stay the night, I didn't have anything with me, no hairbrush, no toothbrush, no change of clothes, no nothing, and Chris is a poor sleeper when he's sick so I didn't want to sleep next to that all night. I decided that if Chris wasn't up for it, I'd just take his car and drive myself home, it was unfair to ask Sue to drive me home, it would've been easier if I had just stayed the night of course.. anyways, I was probably half way home when I ran into some trouble - a flat tyre!

Who knows how long I was driving like that for before I realised the tyre was flat... by the time I realised something was wrong, the car was already going all funny and bumpy and was a little hard to steer... thankfully it was a quiet road... I figured this could only happen to me, I hardly ever have to drive, and the first time in ages that I'm driving on my own and this bloody thing happens! I didn't know who to call, should I call dad? It would be too hard to explain to dad where I was. And he might've been drinking, so I didn't want him driving if he had been drinking. Should I call Chris? But Chris was sick, and I wasn't sure if he would be able to come out to change a tyre for me. Should I call the RACV? I didn't know the number to call... and I wasn't sure if they would talk to me on the phone considering it wasn't my car? They probably would have... but yeah, you can see, I know jack-all about cars and stuff. I didn't even contemplate calling Kent.... perhaps I should have. It wouldn't have been such a long night.

I ended up calling Chris, and Sue drove him out, funny thing, he was feeling a whole lot better by now. Lazy bugger, a few hours sleep and the massive headache he had earlier magically disappeared by 1am. So I waited and waited and waited... it was a little bit scary, I was alone on a dark quiet street. Anyways, when Chris and Sue arrived, he took out the spare, and the whatchamacallit to loosen the bolts but couldn't find the jack. I ask you, what kind of guy doesn't have a jack in the car?! My guy, that's who! Of all the guys I could have chosen, I had to pick the one who was almost completely useless with cars - the only person more useless is me, but then again, I'm not a guy, it's not my prerogative (woohoo, I finally get to use that word!).

Oh, but didn't Sue drive him out? Wouldn't she have a jack in her car, you ask? Why yes, she did have a jack in the car. In fact, it was a brand new jack, never before used, and last night would've been the perfect time to test it out - but useless car people that the 3 of us were, we just couldn't figure out how to take it out of the car... keep in mind, it was nearly 1:30am, it was dark, we didn't have a torch, I had been up since 9am, I was tired, Sue was tired, and Chris... well... no excuses for Chris he'd had a sleep. We were just useless. Changing a tyre wouldn't have taken him long, but without a jack we couldn't do anything! So we called RACV... waited for nearly an hour before the nice man arrived. It took him 5 mins, including pumping up the spare tyre for us to get us on our way. *sigh* I just can't believe Chris' car didn't have a jack...

Anyways, by this time it was around 2:30am and I was no longer tired, so what the hell, we were out late on a Saturday night, I was dressed up, we might as well go somewhere for a midnight snack. Down to St Kilda we go! Of course at 3am, nearly everything was closed, but the good thing was there were stacks of street parking at this time of night :) We ended up getting McDonald's and parked in a romantic spot by the beach to woof it all down before laughing ourselves silly and heading home.

Chris being Chris, took a wrong turn in St Kilda and we missed the turnoff to take us the direct way to the Westgate so whatever, I decided rather than try to do a u-turn, we'll just take the scenic route home, through Port Melbourne, South Melbourne, Beacon Cove or whatever trendy suburb it was down that part of town. The thing is, I almost always get lost around this area, and it being nearly 4am and me having been awake for almost 19 hours by now it probably wasn't the wisest decision I've ever made. Quoting that show I watched just the other day, no good decisions were ever made past 2am. How true, how very very true!

Surprise surprise, we didn't get lost! But fate has funny things for us.... we managed to make it to the entrance of the Westgate without getting lost but it was CLOSED!

The Westgate was CLOSED! It almost never closes! I only remember it being closed twice in my lifetime, the first time in year 8, when that guy threatened to jump but didn't. The second time when the guy was holding up the servo about 3 years ago. They were major incidences, so what on earth was happening at 4am on a Saturday night to have caused the Westgate to be closed?! It was blocked by a flashing police car and we were forced to take the long way home via Footscray. By this stage, I'm almost laughing hysterically. Things like this can only happen to us.

Aiyaya, ok... we made it home just past 4am and straight to bed we fell and slept like logs we did.

This morning when we woke, I was telling Kent about our night and how I think I must've hit a kerb cos it wasn't just a flat tyre, the tyre was somewhat torn (great news, it means I have to get Chris a new tyre :( I mean, I don't remember hitting a kerb... you would think that if I hit a kerb I'd know.... or perhaps I was more tired than I realised and didn't even know that I hit a kerb when I hit it or that my driving is so terribly bad that I'm just plain stupid and ignorant to the fact that I hit a kerb at all. Whatever the reason, ultimately I did cause it.

So we went to inspect the damage, and sure enough, major tear in the tyre. Unsalvageable. New tyre for Chris. Great. And Kent was telling me that judging by the marks on the broken wheel, it certainly looks like I hit a kerb. Double great. My poor driving skills are now cemented in everybody's memories.

Oh yeah, and guess what? Kent found a jack in Chris' car! What a doofus we were. Oh yeah, and Kent showed us how to remove the jack from Margaret's car as well. Double major DOOFUS! I should've called Kent in the first place.

What a fun night. We should do it more often.

Something funny happened on my lunch break

TGIF!

My weeks are just dragging on by these days, I can't believe that not doing anything at work can make one feel so tired. The kids are good to me, they've been keeping the office somewhat tidy, my colleagues are good to me, in particular Alex and Marisa who are really good with keeping me company, we chat for hours and time flies when you have someone to talk to, Alex probably knows a lot more about me than he really cares to, and yet he keeps coming back for more torturously dull stories of my life, silly man. Of course, I haven't mentioned the bribes I use to keep him coming back :)

I was on my regular lunch walk today when I came across a life-sized, bright pink, phallic-shaped item lying innocently in the grass at a park and I thought to myself, now that's not something you see everyday!

Now I'm curious, just what exactly happened there, at that very spot, for someone to leave behind such a curious item? I mean really, a dildo! In a public park!!! For goodness sakes, what on earth was this being used in a park?! Do people have no shame? And why leave it behind?? It looked perfectly... umm....unused? Not that I would know :p

I continued walking to a different park where I sat down to watch what I thought was a group of funny looking people holding a fishing rod, learning how to fish - in the middle of a city park! with no water! and no fish!! It was quite amusing until I realised that they weren't actually learning to fish, nor were they holding a fishing rod. What were they doing you ask? Well, they were actually filming something.... and the 'fishing rod' was actually a boom mike. Man, I really need new specs.

As for Chris, well... he had the day off today to see a specialist about this condition he has with his eye. I'm not really sure what it is since Chris can't remember what's wrong with him to begin with. As far as I can see, there is some sort of infection in his eye that is making him very uncomfortable so the specialist was going to take it out.... Chris being such a wuss, they couldn't do it, cos he was flinching too much so he now has to go into hospital to have it surgically removed - which also means it costs a lot more (thank goodness he has private health insurance!)

Well, next week I still have to work, no long weekend for me, Chris however, has the entire week off.... I reckon it's probably about time for him to start looking for another job, it's becoming increasingly unstable where he is right now. Oh well, we'll see....

No plans for the weekend yet, but if anything interesting happens will blog!

ciao for now

Update - #2

Actually, I don't really have an update... but I'm a little bored so I thought I'd blog....
Lately, I think I've been losing weight, which is good! And I'm trying to get somewhat fit for my trip cos I'm expecting to walk around a lot lugging around lots of pieces of baggage - and how am I doing this? Well, I have an aversion to exercise so actually exercising is kind of out of the question (ie, gyms, classes, sports etc...) so I'm really just walking a lot more, and doing a lot of cleaning which works up a sweat on a lazy bum like me.

Oh, and I was going through some old emails and found some I wrote to a guy called Jesse. *sigh* I miss Jesse. We used to email everyday, real lengthy epic-type emails, it used to take me hours to write him an email and we wrote about everything, we got along so well, he made me laugh, he was smart and witty and he made me feel smart and witty as well. I've lost a few emails over the years when my computers were formatted and/ or changed over but the ones I have kept are so priceless, it still brings a tear to my eye and a laugh out loud every time I decide I want to reminisce and read any of those emails..... ahhh, Jesse my friend, where the hell have you gone? I miss you heaps! Get in touch with me if you happen across this blog.

Update

Ummm... I promised an update last post, however - boring, bland, beige people that we are, absolutely bugger all has happened the last 2 weeks - it's very unusual even for me! Absolutely nothing has happened that's worth writing about. I just can't believe it... nothing even happened at work and for the first time since I started this job last year, I could not produce a report at our fortnightly committee meeting because absolutely bugger all has happened at work as well.

What do I do at work? Well, for the last 2 months.... not a great deal. It involves a lot of talking... hours of it in fact, I probably spend about 5 hours of my day talking to colleagues, 1 hour for lunch, and then the other 2 hours re-arranging my filing, and arranging various playlists on iTunes.... it's thrilling stuff. I'm getting to know some colleagues really well, and others... I don't really want to know that well.... as friends will know, I'm somewhat shy around people I don't know and my throat is always playing up so talking is not my strong point, so talking for 5 hours a day is just so not me at all. Please don't tell my employer that they are paying me way too much money for doing what I'm supposed to do let alone paying my way too much money to just sit there talking and looking pretty. I hate the job but boy do I love working there.

I'm listening to a lot of music - managed to copy all of Chris' iPod music onto my computer at work so I have over 5000 songs to sift through.... most of it not really my thing (metal and doof doof ain't really my style, know what I mean?)

Has anyone ever seen the youtube clip 'My Cubicle'?? Well, it's a parody of the awful James Blunt song 'You're Beautiful' and I tells ya what, every word of that is written about me at work. EVERY SINGLE WORD - oh, every word bar that infamous last line.... I ain't owning up to that one, not in public anyway :p If you haven't seen it, check it out, youtube, My Cubicle. It's about me - but then again, isn't the whole world always about me? :)

So, what have Chris and I been upto lately? Well, not really a lot to be honest.... I've been doing a little researching for my European SUPER trip next year, and a little research on China, cos me and me sis really want to have a look-see there. But we'll see how that goes....

Chris has been lazy as usual.

Me, I'm trying to get us to do things, but it never ends up being anything other than shopping or movies.... we're such old farts.

Umm.... he's still quite the unromantic - so lately I've found myself trying to get him jealous. I won't air it in public, if you really want to know more then just ask me, I'm happy to tell. Not really working though. Chris really is too nice and trusting to be jealous. Must try harder me thinks. Tis a challenge I will take on! Must get Chris to show signs of jealousy.

Otherwise, have just been spending lots of time with the little cousin, he's picking up new things so quickly, growing up so quickly, and so damn gorgeous right now. But still, it only reinforces my stance on never having kids of my own ever. And if you haven't already asked, then I'll ask the question on your mind now, 'what about Chris? Doesn't he want kids??'

Well, Chris knows how I feel, and I've told him (and many others) time and again, if Chris ever decides that he wants children of his own, then he can have them himself or we're in trouble. I'm really not very maternal at all, I was born without maternal instincts. The other day, Nathan was being a pain in the butt, running in and out of the study leaving the door wide open when it was freezing cold outside. I told him over and over again to close the door behind him or I'd lock him out so after getting up on numerous occasions to close the door, it annoyed me so much I came good on my threat and locked him outside. He was not a happy chappy, but I was a happy chicky and a very warm one at that :)

See, I don't feel bad at all, no maternal instincts whatsoever, completely devoid of it.

Woah, for someone who hasn't been doing a great deal, it sure as hell hasn't stopped me from writing a good-sized fill for this post.... sorry for boring you.

more updates on our boringdom next time, ciao!

Happy Anniversary!

Today is our 7th anniversary... who would've thunk that the 2 of us would last 7 years?!

Hmm... well, what did we do? Actually not a lot, and it wasn't much different to what we normally do each weekend. We're very much like an old married couple in this respect... too boring to go out anywhere exciting so we just went shopping, and treated ourselves to a very decadent but very naughty piece of chocolate brownie and a hot choccie each :)

Then I went into a card store, picked out a very mushy card or 3 for Chris and got none back from my best friend of 7 years :( So what if I didn't pay for them, and he had to put them back on the shelf after he read them, it was the thought that counted and he didn't give me one so does that mean that he doesn't think much about me anymore??

No flowers, no card, no present, very unromantic boyfriend - he doesn't even try to impress me anymore, is that something to worry about?? Perhaps......... Hmm... something to contemplate I guess...

Maybe, just maybe he'll be taking me out for dinner tonight? Nope, no chance of that unfortunately, he's sitting on his arse playing on his xbox and then, give him a few more hours, he'll probably be fast asleep and wake just before dinner is served then off he goes back to the doldrums of worklife for the coming week. What a dull existence we both lead. We need an immediate injection of fun and excitement back into our exceedingly dreary, dull and unexciting lives. Update to come soon.

I must say, this is definitely becoming more and more like my piece of blog with just sprinklings of Chris when he's around..... I'll try to get him to contribute something soon and you'll understand why it's always me that does the writing :)

Well, not much happening lately, tomorrow there's a big event at uni and I've been asked to be one of the duty first-aiders, woo hoo my first job as a first-aider! I believe I've forgotten nearly everything already so let's pray that hopefully nothing happens while I'm enjoying the Whitlams :)

Taxi is doing something amazingly funny right now, she's trying to catch moths fluttering around the glass sliding door and she's leaping and jumping so high to get at them at the top of the door. If only I had a camera.... man, that is SOOO funny to watch. It's kinda like she's trying to do the 'Oh what a feeling, Toyota!' jump hehe

Deal or no Deal

After months of waiting I finally got a call to attend an audition to be on Deal or No Deal.
Now, Kent has already been on so he gave me a few tips, and I brought Chris along, thankfully he has the week off so he could make it, otherwise I doubt I would've gone since Lulu would've been my next choice and she's all the way in France now.

So, after work we drive to Windsor for the audition, filled in the form, and waited and waited and waited and waited.... Kent told me it should take no longer than 30-40 mins - What a load of codswallop!

TWO AND A HALF HOURS! That's how long we waited - perhaps we were too polite, perhaps we should've just jumped the queue... perhaps perhaps perhaps

One good thing did happen, we met the funniest 2 ladies while standing in the queue - it could've been that they were both kinda drunk.... didn't help that there was a bar right next door. 2.5 hours in a queue did call for a drink or two. I think we will definitely be seeing them on the show.

After 2.5 hours of waiting, I swear if I don't get on the show and win some money, I'm gonna throw the biggest tanty around :(

Keep reading - may be months before I get selected.

cheerio, nuff blogging for one night, me tired and sleepy now (probably asking why I'm doing all the blogging and where's Chris gone? Well, Chris = lazy and can't type, but will try to make him do some one of these days....)

LOOOOOONG weekend - part 4 - our last day :(

well, after 2 days in Daylesford it was time to say good bye to our cute little cottage.
We decided to have breakky in to save some space for lunch at Bad Habits Cafe, located in the historic Convent Gallery.. a convent that has now been turned into a gallery - get the pun??

Before we had lunch we drove to Hepburn Springs to see what was there and it turns out, not much at all. We saw people filling up empty drink bottles with spring water.... from a
tap!

Chris and I did not have an empty drink bottle so we just decided to turn the tap on and see what was so special about this natural mineral water, and we put it in the only place we could put water without a container, straight into our mouth. Bad idea! Turns out natural mineral water tastes very, how shall I put it......
minerally? ok ok ok, it tasted much like rusty water, basically it was foul. Luckily I had a box of extra strong minty tic tacs with me *phew* got rid of that awful taste quick smart. *Blech* I'm definitely not gonna pay to soak in the stuff, it reeked!

After about 20 mins, we drove back to Daylesford to the Convent Gallery... looked around a bit, the artwork was all really good, darn pricey though, I was somewhat surprised to find many of the art pieces already sold with price tags of around $2000 on average. Who the hell buys these things??? I must move in the wrong circles..... I don't think many of my friends can afford to pay 2 grand for something that just sits there looking weird.

Then Bad Habits for lunch, and lunch was yummo, service was great, they were busy but they were still charming and smiley - absolutely fantastic customer service, even to the bitch on the next table who was rude and arrogant (probably just the kind of people who buys art work for $2000+) Kudos to you, kind servant of customer service - you deserve an inordinate amount of tips for being so polite that bitch.

After lunch we had a little walk, hand-in-hand, around the very romantic gardens of the Convent and found this unually shaped rock. Yup, you see it, it's HEART-shaped! How romantic :)

Then home we came..... I was sad, I wanted it last another day - the weather had only just got better. In fact the weather was perfect ahhh well, Mother Nature is also a bitch

LOOOOOONG weekend - part 3 - QUADBIKING!

Day 2 - Daylesford, quadbiking...

OH MY GOODNESS! It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much fun!!

For the uninitiated, a quadbike is also known as an ATV (all terrain vehicle) or a motorcycle with 4 wheels, hmm.... motorcycle with training wheels? hehe, not quite but just as much fun I reckon and my opinion is based solely on the fact that I have never been on a moving motorcycle of course :)

Anyways, we were the only 2 people booked into today's tour so Chris and I felt kinda special. It turns out the tour is led by these 2 old country folks, really nice blokes too they were and really looked after us.

This is Chris on the quadbike afterwards, see not muddy at all (sorry, there are no dirty pics of me.... on the quadbike that is :)

The bikes themselves were really easy to handle, accelerate with right thumb, brake with left hand and we had a 15 min practice run before they took us into the bush for a wild run and it was FUN! I swear to God I could not stop laughing and screaming as I followed the guide (I think his name was Glen? the guy at the back was Nat but can't remember the other dude... sorry Glen? Gees, I hope his name is Glen :p)

I can't begin to describe how much fun it is so you guys had better try it for yourself one day, here's the link:

http://www.ballarat.com/quadbikes/index.htm

It didn't rain, the sun was out but it
was cold... I guess it was nice that it had rained the day before because it wasn't quite so dusty, however that meant that it left puddles of mud in the potholes.... and they were fun to drive over! I don't know how Chris escaped without getting muddy like I did and he's normally the messy untidy one!

We both had tremendous fun, and wanted it to last a bit longer even though Chris drives like a nanna hehe
I normally drive like a nanna too, but turns out if you put me in the bush on a quadbike I turn into a little speed demon ;p

Unfortunately all that is fun must eventually end, so we were driven back to Daylesford where I convinced Chris to have a late lunch at a nice vegetarian restaurant and *shock horror* he actually enjoyed it! What did we have to eat? Well, a wild mushroom risotto and a vegetable soup - it was a vegetarian/ vegan place, so we know it was healthy, I must admit, even the vegan parmesan cheese on the risotto tasted really yum and it wasn't pricey.... unlike dinner....

After late lunch, we checked ourselves into a massage/ facial treatment, for which Daylesford is reknowned for so we couldn't possibly leave without doing it. It was really nice, bloody expensive but very very nice. I didn't ask for a massage, was just planning on doing a facial but the lady was so nice she gave me a neck/ shoulder massage and hand and feet massages thrown in as well! I couldn't believe it when she started to touch my neck.... umm.. as many of my dear friends know, I suffer from a condition known as extreme ticklishness and I'm a bit shy so I hate strange people touching my body and here is this strange person touching my body! I nearly jumped off the table when she started rubbing my feet, but to be polite I just let her get on with it.... I must say it was rather nice :) and I guess if I wasn't so averse to being touched, if I wasn't so damn ticklish I would've enjoyed the freebie massage. All I can say now is, thanks anyway lady.

Chris enjoyed a 90 minute deep tissue massage plus aromatherapy facial and he was in heaven! Except for the minor mishap when the lady put something on him that obviously didn't agree with Chris' face cos it caused him to scream out in pain when the cream apparently caused a burning sensation (nothing happened to me....)

Oh yeah, he was in heaven, and he wasn't very nice about it, he called them "a couple of old bags"

Now now Chris, that was uncalled for.... overall you enjoyed the experience didn't ya dear?

I wasn't gonna say that was the end of our day, but before I end this boring piece of blog I have to write about our dinner that night - oh man, Chris reckons he had the best piece of steak EVER! Now
that is a big call. But it did look good I must admit, and I had a nice piece of king fish, perfectly done with this gorgeous middle eastern type salad.... it was good, and it was good food done perfectly but it also came at a price - a very very jaw-droppingly high price. Ahhh well, we were there to splurge and to relax, can't worry about money all the time :)

Well, that's it, thanks for reading...

LOOOOOONG weekend - part 2 - Miserable start to Daylesford

So excited was I to go to Daylesford for a couple of days, for various reasons, number 1, I've never been to Daylesford, number 2, I have 2 days off from work, number 3, quad-biking, number 4, hmm... perhaps am too carried away, can't think of a 4th reason - but it would've been a good one.

Well! It was a miserably cold day in Daylesford. Raining, windy, freezing cold so we couldn't go venturing around the town before checking into our accommodation like I had so meticulously planned to do (no, not really, have any of you ever known me to 'meticulously plan' anything before? hehe, I'm so laissez-faire about most things)

Well, we had lunch next to a nice open fire, then waited and waited and waited until it was time to check in... and our cute little cottage just took my breath away! It was so beautiful and secluded, nice and quiet, nice little size, but not too small, and so conveniently close to all the main shops. I will definitely be staying there again next time we go back.

Well, as you can see, I started drinking simply because there was little else to do... yup, I polished off that entire bottle on my own :p
Hmm.... it's been a few days, so I can't really remember what else we did for the rest of the day, I don't think we did anything else, it was wet and miserable and our cabin was gorgeous and warm so I think we just stayed in watching tv and dancing around like stupid 20-somethings that we are (well, that I am... Chris is now an old man of 30-something). Oh, and I had a lovely spa.... mmmmmmmmmmm........................ the spa.......................

*sigh* I really enjoyed that spa, it was a massive spa for such a little place. The spa was HUGE! So big it was that I could nearly swim laps in it! I'm not kidding you, it really was that big :)

Yup, me thinks I stayed in the spa for at least an hour.... I was wrinkled like a prune, well and truly, when I got out of there... not too sure how the neighbours felt with the noise of the spa going on at all sorts of weird hours (it was only 11pm, never too late for a spa - I love that word SPA!) And me thinks the spa may have been a tad too hot for my little body cos when I got out of there I was feeling a little faint... and very nearly did, so took to bed straight away.

What was Chris doing during all this time? Hmm... I'm not too sure, he was watching tv I thinks.
Anyways, the only thing on my mind at that time was I hope it won't rain tomorrow, cos I really don't want to quadbike in the wet and mud.

to be continued...

LOOOOOONG weekend - part 1 - Living End gig

Woah.... what a near perfect weekend we've just had!
Started off on Friday when Chris and I went to a Living End gig at the Palace. Hmm.. Living End were awesome, and I expected nothing less from them, however, never have I felt my age more. Standing for 4 hours is very tiring for my 20-something legs, especially as I had went straight from work - although, who am I to complain, Chris had been up since 4am that day and was still trying to stay awake at 1am..... he was well and truly buggered!

Anyways, The Living End were awesome. I wasn't quite so sure that I would be able to make it to the end of the night.... when Red Riders arrived on stage, I thought... alright, this is ok... I should be ok, then an hour and half later, when End of Fashion came on, I was saying to Chris, (who looked even more weary than I felt) I don't think I can last until TLE finishes their set, we may have to leave early cos my head was hurting, my eyes were stinging, and I was dog-tired. Chris agreed. I really really felt old at that moment. I remembered then why I've always hated clubbing and pubs.... the smoke, OH the smoke! *blech* it's disgusting in every way! I also don't enjoy the dark dark room with lots lots of smelly strange people who smoke, and the noise.... *sigh* I'm so old...

BUT I'm glad that we did stay until the end because they did not let us down. Who would've thunk that a double bass player can be so damn sexy :)

By the time we got home, we both just collapsed and slept like dead logs - well Chris slept like a dead log while I called Lulu in France to see how she was going... it was s'posed to be only a 5 min call, but as always, there's more to chat about than we expect and it ended up being a 45min call... can't wait to see the phone bill.

Next up, Daylesford!

Last week

I was too lazy to do a posting last week... but it was quite idyllic. The weather was perfect, so Chris and I took Taxi down to Cherry Lake for a little exercise, Chris and I had a little picnic - very relaxing!

Then Taxi saw a dog close enough to sniff and made a bee-line straight for him/ her... unfortunately, the rope she was tied to was now wrung around Chris' arm and gave him a nasty rope burn, poor thing :( I feel bad. Should've seen the size of the welt that developed - it looked nasty!

But I got to use my first-aid skills to sort him out, that's right - I wrapped an ice pack around the welt! You should all be proud of me... it's been 2 weeks since the first-aid training and I remembered stuff :) He's all better now - and my memory is still slowly going to heaven....

Anyways, right after the rope burn it started to rain so we packed up our picnic and went home. What a beautiful weekend it was... wasn't very exciting but after such a hectic few weeks, I desperately needed to do not much at all.

Observations

Things that happened in the last 7 days that made me smile....

  • a big red blimp floating majestically in the sky.... we need more blimps
  • a man juggling in the park with 5 bowling pin thingies
  • a man in a suit, rushing home from work, and he was wearing a hat - why don't men wear hats anymore? And I don't mean baseball caps or beanies but a proper hat like they used to in the 50s....
  • the martial arts styled blu-tack men on my window
  • Taxi sitting quietly by my side even though she had a lot of lead to run around while Chris and I enjoyed a beautiful quiet picnic at Cherry Lake
  • A little girl, aged 2-3, out shopping with her folks.... she looked just like me when I was little! Damn cute! :)
  • Email from my sister telling me she dreamt of a play pal for Taxi, a real one (one of these days....)
  • a tidier bedroom - still messy, but 'tidier' nontheless
  • the thought of me in Daylesford in less than 1 week's time *sigh* relaxing break, here I come!

CRIKEY! - Goodbye Stevie...

Sad news today, Steve Irwin, our favourite croc-hunter, died today doing what he loves doing. No, he did not get eaten by a crocodile, nor bitten by a shark, but attacked by a stingray (right through the heart).

The things that I admire most about him - his enthusiasm, his passion for life, his passion for what he believed in, how he idolised his family and how his family idolised him.

Ahh... what a load of crappy ramblings, it's late I'm going to bed. Goodbye Steve

Day after the wedding....

Alrighty, I guess Chris ain't gonna be writing anything since he is sitting right behind me playing some x-box game (with weird sighing noises emanating - kind of sounds like noises Homer Simpson would make)

Well, we didn't have a digi-cam to take pretty photos of me, and boy did I look gorgeous (yup, that's right, it's all about me!) my hair was pretty, my dress was pretty, my furry shrug was pretty, my shoes were pretty - all in all, I was damn pretty last night :) hehehe I'm quite modest as you can see.

Here's how my hair looked upclose from behind (Chris took that lopsided shot - he might've been slightly inebriated) and it only cost $30 to do, good old Phuong's... I'm not really sure which of the ladies is Phuong, but all the same, good work Phuong!

Well, there's me in my outfit, and Chris looked quite smart in the smart suit we bought him a few years ago, and his hair all tipped blonde. Overall, wedding was reasonable - food was quite as bad as dad had it. Perhaps the reception centre was a little cramped. I think they tried to squeeze 400 people into a space big enough to fit only 50.... it was a realy pain trying to get in and out to get to the loo, especially for the peeing machine that Chris is. He must've drunk enough coke to quench the thirst of most 3rd world nations just last night alone!

Anyways, like I said, we didn't have a camera, so relied on my cousins' digi-cams... come on cuz's send me the bewdifool pics of me and Chris - I really want more than these blurry shots as memories.....

Well, we sat next to Eric and Patrick and boy have they grown into funny young men - they certainly kept me amused for most of the night last night and the other bits were watching Nathan and his shenanigans - what a gorgeous kid.

Oh highlight of my night? Everyone got served a half a lobster, even Nathan! And I ain't talking about a stingy teensy weensy little piece, it was a good decent sized lobster and everyone got HALF of one! Gees, that was like my dream come true almost. So what do I do? I ate the entire half a lobster of course - TWICE! hehe, I managed to eat ONE ENTIRE LOBSTER all by my lonesome (I can't thank the non-lobster-eating Chris enough for his serve - yummy yummy!)

Wel, if I was trying to hide my fat belly at the beginning of the night, well it wasn't worth the effort by the end of the night cos it was just impossible - lucky I had a stretchy dress that expanded as my tummy did.

Yup, dinner was yummy last night and our entertainment (thanks Eric, Patrick and Nathan) was good too - whereas I cannot say the same for the 'actual' entertainment provided for us... viet music, loud viet music, loud terrible viet music, terrible loud viet music with bad karaoke, and then some doof doof to to boot at the end of night - BAD ENTERTAINMENT. And the MCs for the night kinda sucked too.... friends of the bride and groom but they sucked bad. They seemed like they intended to MC at a funeral, dry monotonous speeches, no humour, no jokes, no laughter and no smiles. At one stage, they almost appeared to have some life, but then went straight back to MCing for a funeral..... perhaps wedding = funeral anyways some might say?

Anyways, that's the way life goes - I gotta do my taxes soon... just gotta get my fat arse off the seat if I can....

Until next time

man kicking the shit out of a chair

well.... I just had the busiest 3 days of my life this week. Stupidly I made myself the food safety supervisor not realising what a big job it really is.... *sigh* I'm not really gonna go into it, it was busy at work, I barely got a chance to sit down (almost reminds me of the other place I left... simply because I never got a chance to sit down....)

It's also the week that my parents went to Sydney, leaving me, the bro and the dog to look after...
and poor little doggy, being left like that all day.

It's also the week of Chris' Aunt's b'day, a BIG function at work, and my cousin's wedding!
I had completely forgotten to book a time to get my hair done at the hairdressers... oh well, I hope it won't be too busy, I just want a simple up-do so I'm just gonna walk in and hope for the best :)

Well..... this space is becoming more and more like MY little piece of whinging heaven than me and Chris' web heaven - perhaps Chris should learn to write something boring too?? hehehe

Wedding tomorrow...... *sigh* hopefully I'll look like a goddess without trying too hard - you know me, not really the girly-girl type but do like to wear nice formal dresses hehe

more to tell tomorrow (maybe will get Chris to write something instead of me)

Oh yeah, I forgot to say what the heading means. Last night whilst on my way home, I was waiting at the bus stop when there was this god-almighty BANG! and then more bangs and hits and whooshes... turns out there was some guy in a shirt and tie, kicking the shit out of a plastic chair. He didn't look aggressive nor angry, and he certainly didn't look happy or satisfied doing it - so why was he doing it? and where did he get the plastic chair in the middle of the city?? who knows, but it was interesting to watch.

Lulu's farewell...

Ah well, it seems so soon but Lulu has finally left Oz for Lyon... last Saturday was her farewell, and Chris and I both went - it was ok, kind of what I expected, I hardly knew anybody, and Chris knew even less bodies than me.

We left pretty early (around 11:30pm) but we went walking around the city (since we were both dolled up - why waste the chance eh?). Got home around 2am... that's considered a good night out for the both of us, we're like grandparents now, we hardly ever go out at night. It's so sad.... Yeah, and we took a nice photo with her at the bar... can't wait til she sends it (Although I must admit I think I look fat :( but these days I always think I look fat..... it must be an age thing...... the older I get the fatter I get....

Anyways, Lulu's been gone for 2 days now and she's thinking of going to Brussels where the rellies are instead of paying to stay at a backpackers for 10 days before the dorm opens. Dad's been going crazy worrying about her, whereas I've been taking the 'take it easy, let her go free' approach. She's old enough to look after herself - I mean the only thing worth worrying is the fact that she's not immediately contactable because of some stupid issue with her sim card, easily fixed once she's a little more settled, she's only been there 2 days for crying out loud!

Anyways, she's got a credit card, she's smart, she's got support, she'll be fine.

Well, I think tomorrow she'll be flying out of Lyon.. once she gets to Brussels we'll see how she is settling in.

As for us, it's gonna be nice weather for the weekend so Chris and I will be heading out doing some shopping... for Chris's Aunt, Margaret. And generally enjoying ourselves.

It's my birthday and I'll whinge if I want to

Alright.... yep, it's my birthday - me, the one that so far has been filling these pages - I'm getting old :( I work with so many young people (19-20 year olds) that I can't even say how old I am now.... I'm twenty... aarrg.... twen.... twenty.... uuurggg... blech.... *choke choke* twenty..... *cough*

well, *sigh* let's just say I'm officially "twenty-something"

I got a lot of handy presents, some useful travel things (which my sister will be taking with her when she leaves for France tomorrow - so yeah, she says thanks to Sue and Margaret)

I got me a beautiful bottle of 'Incanto Dreams' from me darlin' and now I'm smelling nice and yummy.

Mum and dad took me out to dinner so I'm stuffed like a pig (great, old and fat... just want I want when I turn "twenty-something")

Of course, it was one of the busiest days at work, I went on a really late lunch, and nearly forgot to go home today.... and by the time I got to the bus stop, I was tired and hungry, with sore legs, and the damned bus was LATE! I had to wait a good 45mins in the cold, standing in my heels for a stupid bus to go home and get ready for dinner out and I was running late cos of some stupid bus - ON MY BIRTHDAY! :(

Plus the fact that my sister will be leaving on a 6 mth exchange to France tomorrow, and I've hardly seen her in the last 2-3 weeks, haven't had a decent conversation with her for I don't know how long (granted, I have a shockingly bad short-term memory) - and I can't even take a day off to send her off at the airport.... oh well... perhaps it's not a good time to remind her that our planned trip hasn't really finished being planned.... all we've got so far is my flights, no itinerary, no timeframes, no tickets to tours, no idea which direction we're going.....

hmm.... it's gonna be hard - but then again, she hasn't even finished packing yet.
Well, it's late I better get to bed now.

Over and out,
Mae

Day after Sue's Birthday

Umm... so yesterday was Sue's birthday, and from what I hear from Chris, it went really well. She certainly was spoilt by her family and friends - Fiona and Andrew got a coffee making machine thingy that goes onto the stove.... I'm not exactly sure what they mean, but sounds like it made a good coffee (whatever that is... doesn't mean much to a non-coffee drinker like me).

From me, as I mentioned in the earlier post, she got a packaged perfume set, 5th Avenue, and she liked it so that was good too. From Fiona and Margaret, she received a gift voucher to a day spa for 2.5 hours - something certainly well-deserved for such a remarkable woman.

And a good day for one, but an extremely busy and hectic one for me - I was in the office from 8:30am - 7pm, lunch at my desk, and leaving my office only to go to the toilet (twice only) I am so sick of the office. Plus I never want to see another textbook again, nor any more green forms!

And I was really dreading today because my boss is making me go to this company function with lots of important people there.... important people that I have nothing to do with and will most likely never see again. I won't remember them and they won't remember me.... I really wanted to get out of it, but my boss was adamant I should be there to help sell the company. I am just not a good 'work the room' network butterfly kind of girl....
But - it went ok, I felt extremely awkward but at least I managed to speak to a few guests... hope that was 'ok' with the boss guy.

Shopping for Chris' mum's birthday gift

Well, the weekend just past... Chris and I spent it shopping for Sue's birthday present - Sue is, of course, Chris' mum - and boy it was damn hard, and it just gets harder each year!

Chris had already bought his mum a clock radio, a little boring, yes, but it was something practicle and something that she had wanted afterall. Don't get me wrong, he wasn't as cheap as that, he didn't just get Sue a simple clock radio, he also spent some hard-earned cash on some Gold Class movie tickets, not just your everyday el-cheapo tickets, no-sirree! It was the top of the line, comfy and clean couches, food and drinks, the whole shebang.

As for me, I just couldn't bear to be so boring.... so, what did I end up getting? Well.... Elizabeth Arden's 5th Avenue... ok... well, yeah I s'pose perfume can be considered boring too.. hmmm.... *sigh* it is damn hard buying nice presents (and even more so when you can't really afford much and aren't very creative).

At least I wrapped it up all goodly :)

Okies, well unfortunately, I can't be there on the 1st August to celebrate the special day with Sue, but I know she'll have a good one. So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY SUE!
