You can't fix stupid

"You can't fix stupid"

No you cannot!

What a brilliant phrase, I love it! I don't think you can make it any more simple and I'm determined to use it as much as I possibly can from here on now.

I learn this phrase today and within the hour, I had my opportunity to use it. How do dumbasses get hired when so many able and intelligent people are unemployed?! I don't get it. Got a call from our records department regarding a file I requested they create and deliver to me and the dumbass actually asks me, "how do I name that file?"

me: "ummm, what do you mean?"

me in my mind: (you can name that file however way you normally name files, stupid head)

dumbass: "I mean, how do I name it so I can put it on the shelf?"

me: "what's the normal protocol for naming files?"

me in my mind: (I better ask as clarification for this just in case I'm the stupid head who didn't understand your question, because I just can't believe that you're asking me such a simple stupid question and that you're actually asking ME how to do YOUR job!)

dumbass: "eerrrr, well, we normally put the first 4 letters of the last name, then a comma, then the first initial of the person"

me: "well, there ya go, you can do that for this file as well"

me in my head: (are you F#@!king serious?! Isn't that what you ALWAYS do anyways?! Why the F#@k did you have to ask me how to do that when you obviously know how do it afterall!? What was so different about this file?? Dumbass)

dumbass: "oh ok then, so it's ok to name the file like that?"

me: "yes, of course. Why would it be different to any other file?"

dumbass: "ok, thanks for your help"

me in my head: (no problems dumbass, please don't bother me again with your inane questions, I'm very busy at work, surfing the net, talking on the phone, eating my biscuits, wondering how I can take over the world in 3 days and watching the clock to help you do your work as well. Stupid time-wasting dumbf*!@k! )

Me out loud (off the phone): YOU JUST CANNOT FIX STUPID *sigh*

The joys of being a kid again

So I'm on my way home from work today, first week back, long long day.... and then comes an angel to brighten up my day.

Sitting right in front of me was a little boy, no more than 4 or 5 years old and perhaps in his world he was the happiest little boy in the world. He was chatty and laughing and just too darn adorable.

Everytime the bus went up a hill, up went his arms, and flailing them about like a crazy kid he let out the loudest "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!"
Just as if he was on an awesome ride at the Show... certainly made me giggle.

Then everytime the bus went down a hill (or down the Westgate) up went his arms, flailing about, "WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!"
I almost let out a laugh out loud - he was just too cute. I wanted to pat him. How come I never had that much fun taking the bus?? I think I gotta try that one day :)

That kid made my day.
In fact, that kid made my week.
I think I'll call him Albert :)

Thanks Albert, you made my week!

Purge Purge Purge!

The longest and most wretched year I've encountered so far is finally over, if I knew who to thank for getting me through it, I would.

Reflections? I've been on my computer pretty much all day today and I've come to realise that for a year that I would rather forget, I certainly took an awful lot of photos and now I have these memories that will forever be around to haunt me and remind me of things I'd rather not remember. I guess I wouldn't be who I am if I didn't torment myself in stupid ways like that.

So anyways, reflections of a long torturous 388 days... of those, I can only recall 2 days where I was genuinely me, genuinely happy, no pretending, no putting on happy faces, no struggle to get through the day, just happy to be in that moment. Just happy.

22nd June and 8 November.

I'm not sure how sad it is that I can actually tell you those 2 exact dates. What kind of measurement tool do you use for these tragic things? Or question can be rephrased to what kind of tragic tool admits to remembering such stupid things?

It doesn't matter. I made it. I'm better off than most people. I made it. And this year, I plan on enjoying myself. By year's end, hopefully I will have more than 2 dates to name. Perhaps.

I made it.
And I'm ok.
