Happy New Year to all my babes!
And what a year it's been!
It started off a little shaky for me, with a lot of change and a lot of uncertainty and a helluva lot of insecurity but a year is a long time and a plenty can happen in just a mere 12 months, so as far as I am concerned it has ended a lot better than I expected, particularly so when compared to the previous 12 months.
Yes, I have achieved much and yet not achieved enough - so 2010 will mean I must work smarter to reach the goals I set, but don't be mistaken, these are not new year resolutions, nay nay nay! New year resolutions are made to be broken and not kept, goals are made to be achieved and I aim to achieve as many as I can in my short life.
2009 was a good one.
Maha, Press Club, Tutte Bene, Vue de Monde, L'Etoile, Boathouse, MoVida Aqui, Cafe Vue, Hutong, Mecca Bah, too many wineries, Tassie (x2), Sydney, seafood aplenty, too many cheeses, happy hour at 434, not enough breakfasts (but then again, I'm not much of a morning person) and stalking too many exceptional chefs ;P
I learned how to parallel park (again), I can sort of reverse park, I hesitate a little bit less now if I have to drive anywhere.... I made it to the gym more often than I expected, I even go for a run every now and then, I successfully completed a 'non-boot camp' boot camp without dying, I made a lot of new friends and re-made some old ones, and I miss a few friends... you know who you are, but particularly Rose, Fad, and.... MM.
I finally spent those blasted gift vouchers that I keep getting, at last count I had some $500-odd worth of gift cards. Nothing shows better how much you don't care. Surely I can't be that difficult to buy for? I'm pretty easily satisfied, really I am! I'm happy if you get my a block of cheese.
And whaddaya know, the minute I use the ones I have, I get another stupid freakin' gift card *sigh* I hate them bloody things. I'm going on record to say that it is your money down the drain if I get another gift card, it takes me too much time to spend it and just not worth my effort. You'd be better off giving me cash so I can pay some bills with it.
Anyhoos, tis not a time to whinge, I have an entire 2010 to do so :)
I have a sexy raunchy burlesque-themed party to go to for NYE2009, so keeping it short cos I gots ta go pretty myself up a bit. Don't let the heat get to you and party responsibly everybody (that means you, Frankston boys :P )
If I don't see you tonight, I will see you in the new year. Love youse all, happy 2010!

Can't treat me that way - Kate Earl
You’re not the guy I met
and if you are,
only get one chance to prove it
baby make it count
Maybe she let you do that
maybe some other fool had
too many problems
to respect herself
You’ve got a woman who knows her worth
and ain’t prepared to compromise it
you better listen you better make it better
but don’t make me say...
You’ve got a woman who knows her worth
and ain’t prepared to compromise it
you better listen you better make it better
but don’t make me say
you can’t treat me that way
I hope it’s my mistake
simple misunderstanding
trivial bullshit we blew into space
a common lovers rift
uncommon words thrown like fists
cause if you meant it
baby it’s too late
You’ve got a woman who knows her worth
and ain’t prepared to compromise it
you better listen you better make it better
but don’t make me say...
You’ve got a woman who knows her worth
and ain’t prepared to compromise it
you better listen you better make it better
but don’t make me say
you can’t treat me that way
you better make it better
you better make it feel right
you better make it feel the way it ought to feel
you better make it better
you better make it feel good
you better do it cause you know that you should
and ain’t prepared to compromise it
you better listen you better make it better
but don’t make me say...
You’ve got a woman who knows her worth
and ain’t prepared to compromise it
you better listen you better make it better
but don’t make me say
you can’t treat me that way...

Karaoke Queen
He sits down at the table for 2 seconds and on the table magically appears 10 various lethal alcoholic concoctions... sweet ones, fruity ones, chocolatey ones and ones with funny names (headless chook? Anyone want Tony's nuts?), he certainly gets credit for generosity but one must be wary of his motives for that was just the beginning of the night...
After a loud and rowdy dinner, we all head off to PartyWorld for some awful renditions of some terrible songs, and the more terrible the song, the better the night it was.
We began with a$300 bar tab and immediately, there was an order for at least $100 worth of various cocktail shakers.... mmmm... yummmmmy cocktails.....
A blur of ABBA, Beatles, some Spice Girls, Backstreet Boys and a few numbers from Beyonce and Lady Gaga - and what karaoke session will it be without a shout out to Aqua's Barbie Girl? hoo ha yeah!
We all played our parts pretty well:
Mr Mickey - the drink master - the one encouraging all to drink and continually plying us with the dreaded 'pace jar'
Mr Just-Married - on his first night out without the Missus - playing the loud, rowdy, attention-hogging dance queen, keeping us all entertained with his snappy dance moves, MJ moonwalk, Elvis impersonations and Beyonce renditions.
Miss Smiley - the baby of the group but no shrinking violent, she's so adorable, like my kid sister at work.
Miss Mic Whore (no, that was not me!) - was perhaps the only person there who had any sort of decent singing voice while the rest of us merely shouted and yelled at the microphone (hehe, yelling out a song probably wouldn't help heal my niggling cough)
Madam Mum - tired and exhausted from work and being mum to a toddler, she had a leave pass to paint the town with us unmarrieds (oh, except for Mr J-M, he's still counted as 'unmarried' for now), leaving hubby at home to look after bubs for one night. I think it's great stress-relief for her when pelting out a song or two.
Mr Viking - oh how I will miss him, my dear Mr Viking, when he leaves us next year to work in Dandenong - boo! I say boo to those who are sending him away! We should keep Mr Viking and send Mr Misogynist to Dandenong. Boo! Boo! Boo! Boo!
Before long, even I was hogging the mic and I managed to do a solo number - probably because nobody else there knew the song (Thank you very much Dixie Chicks!)
After one too many sugar-filled beverages, occassionally mixed with a peroni here and now, I decided to make my escape early (somewhat early I think... I think the bar tab finished in less than 2 hours and we went a bit over... and then some :P)
Stupid thing is, when you find yourself filled with too much sugar and not enough booze you wound up lying in bed with eyes wide open tossing and turning trying desperately to get tired and fall into slumber. After an hour of this I became really agitated and found myself leaping out of bed and tidying up my room. Now there's a side-effect I hadn't expected! Perhaps it's something I need to bear in mind next time I go out, must drink more sugary things!

I still gots it!
My last call for the day, and let's call this dude.... mmm... Raffy, well Raffy was really annoyed, and he was annoyed at everybody and everything and normally, I shut my mind to these annoyed people because I have to consciously shut out negativity from my life otherwise it really does my head in but that's a different story, so anyay, Raffy was different, Raffy was annoyed at everything but he was not annoyed at me, and he wasn't exactly negative either. He made it very clear that he just wanted to vent, and vent to me he did and listen to him I did, and by the end of the conversation he called me 'Sweety.'
And then he thanked me for listening, and then he thanked me for helping him and he thanked me for being so patient with him and he told me I have a wonderfully soothing voice. Ahhhh, this girl loves to be appreciated :)
Raffy pushed the right buttons.
I like Raffy.

Comment
Parties, tears, celebrations, stress and excitement all rolled into 7 days.
I met the Premier at a work function, and got to mingle amongst industry head honchos, somehow there's even a photo of me looking all professional and important with my little MaeBerry in hand ;P
In the same week, I also sign contracts that will sink me into massive debt for years to come, and then immediately regretted it. And after the immediate regret, the problems are resolved and then there's a small burden lifted and I can see a little light at the end of the end of a very very long tunnel.
And for the first time in months, I am allowed to sleep in for as long as I want to, and get up and whatever time I want to because there is nothing for me to do on the weekend! What a wonderful feeling to be able to sleep in. Absolute bliss.
It hadn't occurred me to how tired I have become in the last few months. A good tired, not the exhaustive tiredness of the past. Bliss. Just pure bliss.

Happy for no reason
I am happy for no reason and that suits me just fine!
Just the other day, I bumped into, Mr T. who I used to work with, and considering we hadn't seen eachother for about 2 years, we had much to catch up on. Amongst other things, he made a comment about how different I looked, not so much in terms of the physical because my hair, weight, clothes, well to be honest not much of that has really changed in 2 years. What he had noticed was how healthy and how happy I appeared.
"Must be a new boyfriend" says he.... ;)
Wow! - well that just plain blew me away - not only because it feels terrific when someone pays you a compliment, and you know me, I lap up compliments like chocolate! No, not just because of that.
It was the fact that someone had noticed how good I felt and it wasn't just me feeling it or imagining it. I was thrilled that what I am feeling inside now has shone through and shone outwards, and someone had noticed me beaming. That this awesome mental state I am currently in actually makes a difference to my physical state as well.
Two years ago, the last time Mr T. saw me, I was in a bad place. One year ago was an awful place for me, I don't want to imagine how terrible I must've looked physically because emotionally and mentally, it was just a bad time. To think how that would have transferred to my every day state is horrifying. *urgh*
So yeah, the last time Mr T. saw me, I was a different person, she was unhealthy and unhappy but she, that ugly person, is gone.
She is happy. For no reason. ;)
