I'm dreaming of a white Christmas

I never thought I'd see the day when we would have a white Christmas in Melbourne. I mean seriously! It's December, it's Summer, temperature is supposed to be in the 30s by now. But no, it was cold, it was 14 degrees, it hailed, it rained, it snowed!

Who would ever have thought that it would SNOW in Melbourne on a Christmas Day?!
Ah, the wonders of the crazy Melbourne weather... 37 degrees one day, 27 degrees at night, but 14 degrees and wet the very next day. Crazy....

And then......

Ahhh... the day after Christmas.....

we basically took it easy today. Thought about doing the Boxing Day sales BUT better judgement told us that it was probably a good idea not to brave the crowds today. People get hit and stuff just to get a bargain, and no bargain is worth my pretty little face getting hit ;)

So, I pretty much spent the day at home, tidied up my room - again - why does it always become such a mess every time Chris stays over?!

Gave Taxi a bath and she smells all sweet and nice again.

That's pretty much it - very exciting day I've had but that's just the way I like it.

Should I list my Chrismas presents? :) :) Let's just say I have been a good girl this year, Santa was very forthcoming :)

21 more days and counting.......

The new look

As you can obviously see, I've decided on a new look for this blog. Reason? Well, judging from the direction that it has taken, it's not exactly Chris and Mae's blog anymore.... it's more my blog and sometimes I tell you about what's happening with Chris... so from this new direction comes a new look.

And, I was kind of getting tired of that old look anyway...

Righto, so new direction... where do I go with this new direction??? Really don't know yet but where ever takes my fancy I guess. Probably more of the same really, the usual stuff... me rambling on about really important world issues such as when I decide to clean my room, or when I decide to give Taxi a bath, or yet another shoe purchase that I do not need :p

I'm officially on holidays now. Christmas party at work was dull - as I had expected it to be, but fortunately it was at the Uni so I was able to make a speedy and quiet escape the moment all the formalities and food were over. I really didn't feel like sticking around on a 37 degree day wasting my precious time not drinking the free booze they were offering (Mae's not really much of a drinker you see) and making small talk with people that I don't really know and who probably wouldn't know me from a bar of soap if I ever bumped into them outside of work. Yup, I could think of better things to do with my time.

So, 2 more days til Christmas, what have I been upto? Pretty much all the Christmas shopping is complete. I need to wrap them up, write out the cards... Chris and I went over to his Grandparents house for early Christmas lunch with them today because they are moving upto NSW to be closer to Chris' dad... pleasant enough afternoon...

Then, Christmas day we'll be having Christmas lunch feast at Chris' and I don't expect to eat another meal for at least week afterwards. I do, however, expect to be nursing a very round belly for at least a month after Christmas.... and then I'll be off on my SUPER EUROPEAN SAMPLER TRIP! Hopefully after that I'll get my arse down to do some exercise and lose some of this flab that I've put on in the month of December alone.

Why is it so darn easy to put on weight yet so goddam difficult to lose the weight we take only days to put on?

Anyways, I've made a promise to myself. An early New Year resolution if you may. I will be healthier. I will be more active. I will eat better. I will lead a healthier lifestyle. I want to look super amazingly fit for my next birthday! :)

Oh shoot... now that I've made it public, I guess I will have to do something about it... hmmm... no more excuses.

I guess I have some time to think about how I want to go about that.... yoga perhaps? Pilates?? Jogging? Dancing?? :)

Merry and safe Christmas to all my dear friends!

3.5 hour lunch break

Well.... there's less than 10 days til Christmas and I think we have roughly half the presents that we need to buy... not too bad I guess. Chris and I (well, mainly me) already know what we want to get people it's just a matter of getting it.

Yesterday, for a change I was barely in my office for much of the day. It was a nice change. Although, do not be mistaken - that's not to say I was busy with work... however, it was because of work that I was called away from sitting on my arse all day in my comfy little office.

My colleague Marisa wanted company while she went to the city to pick up some printing so I tagged along on the premise that I was to help her carry back the printing... she really didn't need my help. It was just one tiny little parcel afterall :) But it was nice to get out of the office, and we took that opportunity to visit the Vic Market to get some churros - hehe - I'm so glad she persuaded me to get 2 and not 1 because I would not have been satisfied with just one yummy churros :)

When I returned to my office, it was time to go out to lunch with my boss and the rest of his department. It was kind of a farewell to him and a departmental Christmas lunch all in one. And let me tell you, this is one of the finest lunches I've ever had! This will go down in history let me tell you.

He took us to a really posh restaurant in Carlton. I can't imagine paying prices like this for dinner, let alone for lunch! Well, not unless it was a special occasion *hint hint Christopher!* We had expensive French champagne, and really nice wine. We all had beautiful food, oh the glorious food! It was just beautiful. I was so stuffed, so full of good food that I didn't think I could move back to the office but guess what? Paying for lunch at such a posh restaurant was not enough for my boss, no no no, he coerced me to have dessert as well! *sigh* I know what you're all thinking - how horrible of him to order for me a dessert described as "dark callebaut chocolate souffle with hazelnut." A dessert which cost $18.50. Perhaps one of the priciest desserts I've ever eaten. How terrible of him to force me to eat such a heavenly treat!!

:)

I enjoyed it. I really did. I couldn't possibly have finished it though because I was so full and the souffle was so rich so it was nice to have been able to share it. It was shared between a co-worker, my boss and me. So it took 3 of us to finish it. Just.

Next time I ain't sharing this divine creation. Next time, I will just be having sweets alone at Masani's. Trust me, It is worth it.

3.5 hours later, I finally made my escape back to the office, and I was one of the earlier ones to leave! (It's kind of hard to make an excuse to leave early when your boss is there with you and he knows how much work you don't have to do back in the office)

I can't believe I had been out of the office from 12pm til 4:30pm. I would call that a good day. I was severely overfed and truly believe that in one day alone, all my good work exercising has gone to waste. I swear my pants feel somewhat tighter today because of my excess consumption yesterday. It's really difficult to love a job like this :)

On a different note, Chris and I went Christmas shopping today and guess what I did? Yup, bought meself another pair of shoes :0 Like I mentioned in my earlier post, it was 30% off!! I can't pass that over, I mean seriously, it's the world's MOST COMFORTABLE SHOES! I love these shoes!! I'm a happy chicky-babe today. But then again, my credit card has taken a hammering, quite a severe hammering. I need to pay it off before I can book any more accommodation and flights for my European Sampler Holiday.

FOUR WEEKS to go.... I'm so excited!! Be excited for me! I give you permission to be excited for me!

Ciao, au revoir and adios!

Bored and hot

Well, it's been a rather dull few weeks... I think it's been about 2 weeks since my last post and really, there's not much to write about.

The weather has been really really hot, and most people that knows me knows that:
me+hot weather = not very pleasant me to be around.

And then after the hot weather we go back to quite cold again, you know, going from 37 degrees to 10 degrees is two different extremes and sometimes it happens ALL ON THE SAME BLOODY DAY! I've lived here all my life but I don't think I'll really ever get used to Melbourne weather....

The weather last weekend was absolutely disgusting, 37 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday. I didn't do anything on Sunday, absolutely NOTHING. I woke up, laid down on the couch and pretty much stayed there the entire day. I didn't change out of my pj's, I barely moved and I was right underneath the air-con!

I hate hot weather, how the hell am I gonna make it through Thailand?! That should be interesting :)

It's been a rather long week.... almost like it is never gonna end, I think it's cos I only have one more week to go until the Christmas break - and finally I can actually do nothing and not feel guilty about it. Right now I do a lot of nothing and feel incredibly guilty about it. Damn these stupid work ethics I have! :p

And since it is Summer, all the good shows have finished and all the Summer programs have started, which means there's nothing good on tv for me to watch, which also means I really have jack-all to do each night. The only thing I look forward to each week is the Amazing Race (not as good as any of the past series but still good viewing) and each night, is a really weak That 70s Show - either my sense of humour has grown up or it just ain't as funny as it used to be... having a grown up sense of humour, hmm.... that's pretty scary! NO NO NO! I don't want this, I want my old stupid childish sense of humour back. Come back quick! I want to enjoy That 70s Show.

Anyways, I still have a stack of Christmas shopping to do, and it's less than 2 weeks til Christmas :( I went shopping with one of my office bearers yesterday. Ed, God bless him - such a sweetie, he
offered to go shopping with me yesterday because I mentioned I didn't enjoy shopping by myself. How cute is that? I didn't actually end up buying anything.... except something for myself :p hehe oh yeah, I probably haven't mentioned that I've already maxed out my credit card and it's only mid-December!

Don't worry, it's mainly bills and holiday expenses, things that needed to be paid and just so happens to converge around the same time - but the Christmas shopping wouldn't help my poor little credit card...

Thankfully I got paid today, and got the holiday pay - and I'll be getting a pay rise in the new year... overall, I do think I have a pretty darn good job - just wish it was a tad more exciting and mentally challenging. Oh well, can't have everything.

Tomorrow it's FRIDAY! YAY. I saw a sign that made my heart leap, 30% off all shoes! OMG, I am SO going there to get the world's most comfortable shoes, I know I shouldn't buy more stuff for myself but I have been dying to buy these shoes and I just can't bring myself to pay full price for them. So tomorrow, I will be paying 30% less :) :) :)

Alrighty, I'm bringing my attention back to the Amazing Race now. Blog you later.
